How much does a med spa medical director cost in Georgia?

Price is the wrong first question. The right one is what the arrangement has to include to be valid in Georgia — and whether a quote covers it.

The short answer

It depends on how many providers are supervised, which services are delegated, how many locations you run, and how often the physician is on site. Local Medical Directors' medical direction starts at $750 a month, with final pricing set by services, staffing, locations and the oversight your practice requires.

Whatever you pay, Georgia requires the arrangement to deliver real oversight. In May 2026 the Board said it evaluates these arrangements on substance rather than form, and named fee-based physician-matching services directly.

What the rules require you to be paying for

A quote that covers a signature and nothing on this list is not cheaper medical direction. It is a different product.

What drives the price

Number of supervised providers, because each APRN needs observation, chart review and, often, procedure logs. Service lines, because each modality the physician oversees needs documented training and its own protocols. Locations, because each site is checked separately. On-site frequency beyond the annual minimum. And what is included: written protocols, consent forms and the filings themselves, or only the supervision.

Red flags in a low quote

  • The physician practices out of state or lists your clinic as their address. The Board requires a principal place of practice in Georgia or within 50 miles, and virtual addresses do not qualify (GCMB).
  • No procedural specialty. A specialty mismatch is a deficiency the Board says cannot be cured (APRN guidance).
  • No on-site visits mentioned, or no chart-review schedule (Rule 360-32-.05).
  • Nobody files the protocol, or you never see proof of acceptance (Rule 360-32-.03).
  • The supervising physician is on the payroll of the NP or PA they supervise (§ 43-34-25(n)). See employing your medical director.

What Local Medical Directors includes

Medical direction starting at $750 a month includes in-depth treatment protocols, consent forms and patient intake documents, a curated list of vendors and representatives in your area, and a physician with documented laser and injectable training. We keep the medical director side compliant too: site visits logged, chart-review counts tracked, and delegation filings kept current. Final pricing depends on services offered, staffing, number of locations, and the oversight your practice requires.

Related questions

Why are some med spa medical directors so cheap?

Usually because the price covers a signature rather than oversight. Georgia requires documented annual on-site observation, quarterly chart review, filed delegation documents and a physician practicing within 50 miles, and the Board said in May 2026 it evaluates arrangements on substance rather than form.

Can an NP-owned med spa pay its medical director in Georgia?

O.C.G.A. § 43-34-25(n) makes it unlawful for a physician to be the employee of an APRN they supervise. Whether an independent-contractor arrangement or an intervening entity changes the analysis has not been addressed by Board guidance, so the structure should be reviewed by Georgia healthcare counsel.
